I Wonder

How does so much light come from one little moon?
I wonder, I said.
How do the ghost crabs know when night is coming?
I wonder, I said.
How come I'm not as fast as him?
I wonder, I said.
How come the water gets cold and dark all at the same time?
I wonder, I said.
How come the summer went so fast?
I wonder, I said.
How come I had to have a little sister?
I wonder, I said.
How come your brother died?
I wonder, I said.
How do you know what the right thing is?
I wonder, I said.
How did you know you wanted to marry Daddy?
I wonder, I said.
How come that red bird sits on the picnic table?
I wonder, I said.
How come you ask all the questions?
I wonder, but never say.
