What Bad Moms?

What Bad Moms?

If those women are bad moms, then we are all in trouble. Maybe it's just me but I was skeptical from the get go. The breakfast cooking totally freaked me out. Am I the only mother that makes breakfast on weekends only? I will pour cereal or nuke oatmeal, toast a pop tart even but waffles and eggs are reserved for Saturdays or birthdays, maybe Christmas. Seriously, the magnificent breakfast, the slave mother, the insane lunch, it all seemed terribly contrived to me though maybe I am just a bad mom myself.
The rest of the story showed mothers striving for independence, relinquishing duties to spouses, encouraging fledgling children to care for themselves. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't these the character traits of a good mom? I thought we had all agreed that helicopter parenting was the evil choice; surely everyone has seen the study that showed that over anxious parents were more likely to spawn binge drinkers. Now I'm not admiring the copious drinking of the mothers but I wouldn't say there were bad moms, just people who had been trapped in the indentured servantry of motherhood far too long. I can sympathize, after all I discovered pain killers this summer. Yummy rum.
Bad moms are bad. Mean yellers, self centered, selfish with their time and energy, a bit flippant to the people they call their own. I know this because I can be this way myself, the character traits of a bad mom that I am trying to eradicate. Most of us try to be good moms but we aren't quite sure what that means in a literal sense. I think the best way to know what a good mom looks like is to go see Bad Moms. I guess the title of Good Moms would have been just too dull even if totally correct.
