When I See You

When I See You

Friday, April 14, 2017 Adrian Wood Comments (0)

When I see you, I don't see autism staring back at me.

When I see you, my foolish self swells with the good kind of pride.

When I see you, my heart self smiles at every bit of your long legged person.

When I see you, my mindful self often wonders what you're thinking.

When I see you, my listening self imagines how it would sound to hear words falling from your mouth.

When I see you, my questioning self wonders if you're truly happy.

When I see you, my hopeful self prays you fall asleep at night in love with your life.

When I see you, my real self knows that I'll never be able to give you the moon.

When I see you, my mama self feels the grace of requited love.

When I see you my son, my real self swallows fear and gives thanks for the boy whose very soul encompasses me in joy.
